150 converted from March to December 1944. In January 1944 all PzKpfw IIIs being returned for overhauls were ordered to be converted. Turrets were removed and had a 2,200 lb crane installed. There was a wooden box structure added on top.
This was to be used with the Sturmgeschütz units. They were issued to Workshop Companies of Panzer detachments.
