Variants
- M13: The gun mount was developed by the W.L. Maxson Co. Standardized in September 1942. Once the M16 was ready it was designated Substitute Standard. Manufactured by Autocar Co., Diamond T Motor Co., and White Motor Co. M3 chassis. Had Maxson twin .50 cal MG turret. It's sight was a Navy Mark IX reflex. Elevation of 90° to - 11.5°. Could traverse 74° per second. 400-500 rounds per minute. Range was 7,200 yards. Feed boxes held 200 rounds.
- M14: Designated Substitute Standard in October 1942. Manufactured by International Harvester Co. M5 chassis. Had 2 .50 cal MG in M33 mount. Many supplied to Britain.
- M17: Designated Substitute Standard in December 1942. Manufactured by International Harvester Co. M5 chassis. Had 4 .50 cal MG in M45 mount.
