The Ikarus IK-2 prototype first flew in April 1935.1 A construction defect caused the prototype to crash on its third test flight.1
In 1936 the second IK-2 prototype flew for the first time.1

1941 German Invasion
By the time of the German invasion there were eight IK-2s operational.1 These were primarily used in attacks against ground troops.1
